Yams and Sweet Potatoes - Best Fat Burning Foods

A Recipe of
Yams and Sweet Potatoes-Best Fat Burning Foods
Yams and sweet potatoes are powerful foods that are rich in carbohydrate content. When these foods are included in a regular diet they bring about fat burning effect. They have both healthy and nutritional content which enables our bodies to maintain the required energy levels. Research has also shown that these foods can greatly boost fat burning and weight loss.
Yams are starchy tubers that are native to South and Central America, Asia and Africa, and are eaten in many countries throughout the world; there are several types of yam, typically with yellow or white flesh. In the U.S. sweet potatoes are often referred to as yams but they are not actually yams; both things are prepared in pretty much the same way however and they will typically work in the same recipes. Sweet potatoes are softer than yams when cooked, so for recipes that require softer, mushier yams, sweet potato is perhaps the better choice; let's look at a few different ways that yam and sweet potatoes can be prepared.
Required Tools
§  Pot
§  Casserole dish
Required Materials
§  Yams/sweet potatoes
§  Salt
§  Butter
§  Seasoning
§  Cheese
§  Sausages
§  Corn
Instructions
1.      The basic way to prepare yam is to peel it, cut them into smaller pieces; place them in a pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil and then partially cover the pot with a lid over a low flame; add a little salt and allow the yam to simmer until cooked. You can use a fork to test if the yams are cooked and soft; drain the water off and you can now prepare the yam however you wish.
2.      A few of the options you have with cooked yam is to mash it, add some butter, cheese, seasoning, sausages and corn and you have a quick, tasty meal; alternately you could follow the above steps, place the yam into a casserole dish, add some more cheese on top and bake it until the top is golden brown to make a nice casserole. Of course you don't have to use the ingredients listed here, you can use whatever ingredients you prefer with your yams.
3.      Another favorite method for preparing yam is baking or roasting; for this method the yam would be washed, left unpeeled and placed on a grill or in the oven. Stab the yam or potato with a knife in a few places to ensure that the inside of the yam gets cooked through and to decrease baking or roasting time; this will also give the yams an outlet to release steam as steam buildup can cause yam to burst. Turn the yam periodically to make sure it is cooked evenly and when it is cooked take it out the oven, peel it, cut it open and add some butter. If you roasted the yam on a grill, you can scrape the skin off rather than peeling it; you can then serve the yam with whatever you desire.
Tips and Warnings
§  While yam has to be peeled before cooking, it is better to just wash sweet potatoes and cook them in their skin.
§  Stewed codfish makes an excellent compliment to roasted yam.
§  You can wrap the yam in foil before baking it if you desire, however remember to leave holes in the foil for air to be released or you might burn yourself when unwrapping the yam.
