  2.  Keep off foods that are fried.  Fried food has been depleted off nutrients. They only contain high calories and fats. Some health cooking methods include steaming, grilling, baking and broiling.
  3.  Move and walk around. Keep walking around. It has been found that brisk walking is very beneficial to the body and is among the best ways of losing weight. This plan is easy to undertake. 6. Take plenty of water and fresh juices. Instead of taking drinks that are aerated and canned take fresh juices and plenty of water. Your body will be left hydrated and can thus work optimally. Water also does detoxification to the system. It also has 0 calories and thus not harmful to your health.
  7. Keep off junky foods. Avoid using foods that are fried and junky. Also keep off foods that are processed or canned. This is because such foods have high contents of calorie and sugar.

Top 3 Challenges Yogis Face While Practicing At Home

Top 3 Challenges Yogis Face While Practicing At Home

Yoga requires consistent practice in order to master the different poses. One great way to ensure that you are consistently practicing is to practice at home. While practicing at home helps you to progress faster in your classes, many people have many challenges that prevent them from practicing. Here are some of the challenges and how to counteract them.
Lack of time
With the current busy lifestyles, many yogis complain that they lack time to practice at home. Many yogis argue that they get home late in the evening and leave early in the morning for work therefore they are left with zero time to practice. If you are one of the yogis giving this exercise, you need to know that you don't need one hour to practice. All you need are 10-15 minutes of practice and you will be on your way to mastering the poses. To create time for practice, you can wake up 15 minutes early and practice. You can also take 15 minutes off your lunch hour and practice. If you are a stay at home parent, you can schedule your practice after the kids have gone to school. You really have no excuse saying that you don't have time to practice!
Laziness
Everyone suffers from it especially when there is no one looking after you. To ensure that you practice even when you are feeling lazy, you can promise yourself a present once you are through with the practice. You can promise yourself a dinner in your favorite restaurant or anything fancy that you love. Another way to beat laziness is to practice with a buddy. If you have a friend or neighbor who is also in yoga, you can form a team and be practicing together.
Lack of ideas
If you are a beginner in yoga, you are bound to feel that you don't know what to practice. While this is a valid reason, it should not prevent you from practicing. The best way is to practice the poses that you can remember from class. To increase the chances of remembering the poses, you should jot down notes or make diagrams while in class.
These are the main challenges that face people who like to practice yoga at home. If you are a new yogi, you need to realize that you need to be a self starter for you to be successful in yoga. So, stop the excuse and take the pose!

Online Banner Advertising: Is It Still Effective?

Online Banner Advertising: Is It Still Effective?

Expert Author Jon Allo
Online banner advertising was very popular when advertising space was first sold on the internet. But today, some online business owners think that it is no longer relevant. Is online banner advertising still effective?
A website that sells banner advertising space can only guarantee that people will see your ad. They cannot guarantee that anyone will read it or click through to your landing page or website.
The global information and measurement company, Nielsen, recently documented that investment in display internet advertising, which includes online banners, increased over 26% for the first quarter of 2013. Logically, if banners did not work, business owners would not continue to buy them.
How do you make your online banner advertising effective?
Success with online business marketing, like marketing an offline business, always equates to having an acceptable return on your marketing investment. If your banner campaign is costing more than it's earning, then you are wasting your money. The average click through from banners is roughly 2% to 5%.
Actual cash from direct response advertising sales is not the only way to measure the success of your banner ad. If you are directing visitors to a landing page and collecting emails with an opt-in form, these people may well buy another product from you at a later date via your email marketing campaign.
Online banner ads are also effective as a marketing branding tool. Brand advertising, rather direct response advertising, costs a lot of money because you need massive exposure for effective results. This form of banner advertising is favoured by large companies who have the budgets to spend on this type of marketing.
As with any form of advertising, the effectiveness of your banner ads depends on applying the right strategies. To optimise your banner ad performance, ensure that it is placed in a prime position at the top, or near the top, of the page. Place the ad on a relevant website with steady, reliable traffic which is visited by people who are interested in your products or services.
Sell the click, not the product
Online banner advertising is now more sophisticated with better targeting and improved graphics. The objective is to 'sell the click'. Make sure that your message is about a want, desire or concern that your audience may have, so that they are encouraged to click on the ad to find out more. It's the job of your sales page to sell the product.
Your chances of getting viewers to actually click on your banner ad increases when your message motivates people to find out more. Then, once they have clicked on your banner they are directed to a landing page that provides something of value in exchange for their email address. Once you have their email address, you can follow-up the lead with email marketing.
Success in business is mostly about marketing, especially online. Great marketing can sell an average product but poor marketing cannot sell a great product. 3 Yoga Poses to Detoxify Your Body

3 Yoga Poses to Detoxify Your Body

Your body has natural detoxification mechanisms that aid in getting rid of waste products and toxins; however, due to ill health you may find that your body is unable to get rid of the waste products. Luckily, if you are a yoga lover, you can use yoga to detoxify your body. Below are 3 yoga poses that you can use to detoxify your body.
Twisting player lunge
This pose aids in increasing the rate of digestion. The pose also facilitates elimination of toxins and other waste products from the body. The pose further promotes circulation of blood and lymph.
To get into position, you need to put your right leg forward, and then bring your palms together such that they are at the center of your heart. With your left knee lifted, push the left heel backwards. To lengthen your spine, reach the crown of your head forward. At this position, place your left triceps on your right thigh and try to get your torso as close to your leg as possible. To twist your body, send your chest towards the sky by looking upwards. By doing this, you will have twisted your inner organs. You should hold at this position for at least one minute. When you release the twist, the cells will be bathed with fresh nutrients, and oxygen which will aid in detoxification.
Legs up the wall pose
This is a simple pose that almost anyone can do. All you need to do is to 'stand' on your head and raise your legs up the sky. You can use a wall as your support. If you can support yourself without the need of a wall, well and good. When you raise your legs to the sky, you become inverted which aids in draining accumulated lymph fluid from the legs and the drained fluid flows to the rest of the body which greatly benefits the immune system. In addition to this, inverting yourself aids in bathing the abdomen in fresh blood and oxygen which stimulates digestion. This pose also greatly aids in reducing stress that might have accumulated the entire day.
Locust pose
Just like the above two, this pose also aids in stimulating the digestive system. To get into position, you need to lie on your belly while your arms are along the sides of your torso. While at this position, raise your upper torso, head, arms and legs from the floor. To know that you are in the right position, your arms should be parallel to the floor.
These are some of the yoga poses that you can use to detoxify your body. Although, the poses are effective in detoxifying your body, you should also eat healthy foods and exercise regularly.

How to Fall in Love With Your Nose (or Anything You Hate)

How to Fall in Love With Your Nose (or Anything You Hate)

Expert Author Michelle Martin Dobbins
OK, confession time. I used to hate my nose. Really, really hate my nose. When I was teenager, I would literally try to rip it from my body. Crazy, I know. I wanted a cute, button nose that I thought all the cheerleaders had. I did not want a longish, nose with a slight bump on it. It didn't help when I heard one of the senior boys in high school saying that I looked like Barry Manilow in drag. The nickname "Barry" caused me a lot of pain. I planned for the day when I finished college and I could save my money and get a nose job.
Once, I was old enough to "buy" a new nose if I so chose, I was dating someone who liked me the way I was. I was, also, afraid of my families reaction should I get rid of the nose that their genetics had gifted me with. So, I ignored it and went on with my life. Still hating my nose, but not really focusing on it.
Several years later, when I realized how important self-love was, I decided I needed to love all of myself and began to think about my nose again. How could I learn to love it? It didn't happen overnight, but it did happen. Now I wouldn't change my nose for anything. I love it and how it is uniquely mine. Here are the steps it took for me:
1. Get neutral. It's hard to go straight from hate to love. So practice just being as OK with your nose (or thighs, etc.) as you can. You don't have to love it, but don't curse it either.
2. Increase love for other aspects of yourself. I still could not look at my nose and love it, so I chose to continue to mostly ignore my nose, but focus love on my blue eyes which I have always liked. I would look into my eyes for a few moments every time I looked in a mirror and appreciate them.
3. Look at your nose (or ears, etc.) though someone else's eyes. I imagined that my parents must think my nose was just fine and my husband, since he married me with the nose I have. I think all of my children have beautiful, perfect noses for their faces, so I decided to look at my nose as I thought my parents or my love would. I have to admit, I believed my parents and my husband probably loved my in spite of my nose, so I chose to look at my nose through God's eyes, as for me that was the only entity that could truly love my nose. You could, also, look at yourself as you would your child or any child you love.
4. Love something about your nose (or toes). By now, I didn't hate my nose anymore and I could think somewhat positively about it. I noticed that it seemed to have almost a heart shape on the end of it and I could smile and enjoy how it looked. I began to focus on the end of it and not the bump. There has to be something you can appreciate about the thing you hate. Maybe your ears make you look like a Vulcan or you gained strength from being teased out you feet. Find that at least one good aspect.
5. Flow the love. Over time, I was finally able to flow love to my nose and look at my whole face and be happy with what I saw. The funny thing was after I started feeling better about my nose, other people did, too. My daughter was looking at a sketch of me and she said " You should be angry at the man who drew this. Your nose is way cuter than he sketched it." In the past, children had always told me had a big nose, but now people were complementing my nose. It was the same nose, the only thing that changed were my feelings about it.
One last thing, don't worry that loving yourself as you are will keep you from changing. It's much easier to lose cellulite or extra body fat, if you are not resisting it. Even if you decide you want to change something, you will likely have better results with dieting or plastic surgery, if you get OK with "what is" first and maybe you won't want to change anymore. Either way is OK.
One more confession, (this might be more information than you want to know, sorry.) I had flap of skin that hung over my c-section scar, that my doctor called "twin skin." I didn't hate it, but it caused be some issues and I decided to visualize finding a fabulous doctor who would remove it easily without any issues. That's what happened and I love the results. I wonder if I had hated or resisted my body as it was, if I would have such a good experience.
My two cents: love yourself first and then do what feels right. Or you could follow Jeanette Maw's suggestion to "love that about me." She, also, has a great self love e-book. Or stop by the Daily Goddess and read how Luzia Light shares that the only resolution worth keeping is to love yourself more.

Are Whole Eggs or Egg Whites Better for You?

Are Whole Eggs or Egg Whites Better for You?
by Mike Geary, Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer
Author of best-sellers: The Truth About 6-Pack Abs
The Top 101 Foods that FIGHT Aging

whole eggs are a perfect foodI was on a weekend trip with some friends recently and one of my friends was cooking breakfast for the whole group. I went over to see what he was cooking and saw he was getting ready to make a big batch of eggs.
Well, to my shock and horror, I noticed that he was cracking the eggs open and screening the egg whites into a bowl and throwing out the egg yolks. I asked him why the heck he was throwing out the egg yolks, and he replied something like this...
"because I thought the egg yolks were terrible for you...that's where all the nasty fat and cholesterol is".
And I replied something along the lines of... "you mean that's where all of the nutrition is!"
This is a perfect example of how confused most people are about nutrition. In a world full of misinformation about nutrition, somehow most people now mistakenly think that the egg yolk is the worst part of the egg, when in fact, theYOLK IS THE HEALTHIEST PART OF THE EGG!  It's a shame at how many restaurants you can walk into these days and see that the "healthy" breakfast menu always has egg white items instead of whole eggs.  Are we really still in the "fat-phobic" 80's?
By throwing out the yolk and only eating egg whites, you're essentially throwing out the most nutrient dense, antioxidant-rich, vitamin and mineral loaded portion of the egg. The yolks contain so many B-vitamins, trace minerals, vitamin A, folate, choline, lutein, and other powerful nutrients... it's not even worth trying to list them all.
In fact, the egg whites are almost devoid of nutrition compared to the yolks.
Even the protein in egg whites isn't as powerful without the yolks to balance out the amino acid profile and make the protein more bio-available. Not to even mention that the egg yolks from free range chickens are loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
Yolks contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. In addition, the yolks contain ALL of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as ALL of the essential fatty acids (EFAs).
And now the common objection I get all the time when I say that the yolks are the most nutritious part of the egg...
"But I heard that whole eggs will skyrocket my cholesterol through the roof"
No, this is FALSE!
First of all, when you eat a food that contains a high amount of dietary cholesterol such as eggs, your body down-regulates it's internal production of cholesterol to balance things out.
On the other hand, if you don't eat enough cholesterol, your body simply produces more since cholesterol has dozens of important vital functions in the body.
healthy whole eggsAnd here's where it gets even more interesting...
There have been plenty of studies lately that indicate that eating whole eggs actually raises your good HDL cholesterol to a higher degree than LDL cholesterol, thereby improving your overall cholesterol ratio and blood chemistry.
And 3rd... high cholesterol is NOT a disease!  Heart disease is a disease...but high cholesterol is NOT.  Cholesterol is actually a VERY important substance in your body and has vitally important functions... it is DEAD WRONG to try to "lower your cholesterol" just because of pharmaceutical companies propaganda that everyone on the planet should be on statin drugs.
If you're interested in this topic of cholesterol specifically, I have another article listed at the bottom of this page about why trying to attack cholesterol is a mistake, and what the REAL deadly risk factors actually are.
In addition, the yolks contain the antioxidant lutein as well as other antioxidants which can help protect you from inflammation within your body (the REAL culprit in heart disease, not dietary cholesterol!), giving yet another reason why the yolks are actually GOOD for you, and not detrimental.
To help bring even more proof that whole eggs are better for you than egg whites, I recently read a University of Connecticut study that showed that a group of men in the study that ate 3 eggs per day for 12 weeks while on a reduced carb, higher fat diet increased their HDL good cholesterol by 20%, while their LDL bad cholesterol stayed the same during the study.  However, the group that ate egg substitutes (egg whites) saw no change in either and did not see the improvement in good cholesterol (remember that higher HDL levels are associated with lower risk of heart disease) that the whole egg eaters did.
So I hope we've established that whole eggs are not some evil food that will wreck your body... instead whole eggs are FAR superior to egg whites.
But what about the extra calories in the yolks?
This is actually a non-issue and here's why... even though egg yolks contain more calories than just eating the egg whites, the yolks have such a high micro-nutrient density in those calories, that it increases your overall nutrient density per calorie you consume.  Essentially, what this does is help to regulate your appetite for the remainder of the day, so you end up eating less calories overall.  In addition, the healthy fats in the egg yolks help to maintain a good level of fat-burning hormones in your body.
Overall, this means that the extra fats (healthy fats) and calories from the yolk are so nutrient-dense that they actually HELP you to burn off body fat!
Also, your normal supermarket eggs coming from mass factory farming just don't compare nutritionally with organic free range eggs from healthy chickens that are allowed to roam freely and eat a more natural diet.  Your typical cheap grocery store eggs will have lower nutrient levels and a higher omega-6 level and lower omega-3 level.  On the other hand, the cage-free organic eggs from healthier chickens allowed to eat more natural feed and roam freely will have much higher vitamin and mineral levels and a more balanced healthier omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid ratio.
I recently compared eggs I bought at the grocery store with a batch of eggs I got at a farm stand where the chickens were free roaming and healthy.
Most people don't realize that there's a major difference because they've never bought real eggs from healthy chickens... The eggs from the grocery store had pale yellow yolks and thin weak shells. On the other hand, the healthier free range eggs from the local farm had strong thick shells and deep orange colored yolks indicating much higher nutrition levels and carotenoids... and just a healthier egg in general.
This is due to the fact that a free-roaming hen allowed to roam on plenty of land will eat a variety of greens, insects, worms, etc transferring MUCH higher levels of nutrients to the eggs compared to an unhealthy hen that is trapped inside a dark factory farm hen house in horrible conditions and fed nothing but piles of corn and soy.  It's a DRASTIC difference in the nutrition that you get from the egg.
So next time a health or fitness professional tells you that egg whites are superior (because of their "fat-phobic" mentality towards dietary fats), you can quietly ignore their advice knowing that you now understand the REAL deal about egg yolks.
And can we all please STOP with this sillyness about eating an omelete with 4-5 egg whites and only 1 egg yolk... If you want real taste and real health benefits, we'd all be better off eating ALL of our eggs with the delicious nutrient-dense yolks.
After all, do you REALLY think that our ancestors thousands of years ago threw out the yolks and only ate the egg whites?  NOT A CHANCE!  They intuitively knew that all of the nutrition was found in the yolks.  But our modern society has been brainwashed with misinformation about fats and cholesterol.
Another interesting study about eggs...
I read a study recently that compared groups of people that ate egg breakfasts vs groups of people that ate cereal or bagel-based breakfasts.  The results of the study showed that the egg eaters lost or maintained a healthier bodyweight, while the cereal/bagel eaters gained weight.
It was hypothesized that the egg eaters actually ate less calories during the remainder of the day because their appetite was more satisfied compared to the cereal/bagel eaters who would have been more prone to wild blood sugar swings and food cravings.
Oh, one last thing I almost forgot... I personally eat 4 whole eggs almost every day with breakfast, and I maintain single-digit bodyfat most of the year.
Enjoy your eggs and get a leaner body!
