My 5 Minute Healthy Chocolate Fudge Recipe - Yes It's Healthy

My 5 Minute Healthy Chocolate Fudge Recipe - Yes It's Healthy
By Mike Geary - ( Truth About ABS )

As a Certified Nutrition Specialist, I like to find ways to prepare delicious foods that most people can't believe are actually healthy for you. If you have a sweet tooth like me, I'm sure you've tried to find ways to still enjoy sweet treats, but also try to make them healthier than typical junk food desserts.

The major problem with most so-called "healthy" desserts is that most companies attempt to make them healthier by reducing the fat content and thereby increasing the sugar content or artificial sweeteners... there's nothing healthy about either of those!

Below is my famous healthy chocolate-peanut-butter fudge recipe that takes only 5 minutes to make and is really simple. The great thing is that I use no added sugars, no artificial sweeteners, and all healthy fat sources. You'll see why below.

My healthy chocolate-peanut-butter fudge recipe (peanut butter can be omitted if you prefer plain chocolate):

Extra dark chocolate bar (3-4 oz bar works well -- look for at least 70% cocoa content, between 70-85% -- this minimizes the sugar content)
4 or 5 Tbsp of your favorite organic nut butter (almond butter, cashew butter, peanut butter all work well)
2/3 to 3/4 cup of organic coconut milk (great source of healthy saturated fats from medium chain triglycerides - MCTs)
2 tbsp rice bran (additional healthy fiber source)
2 tbsp oat bran (more healthy fiber including soluble fiber)
1/2 cup raw pecans, almonds, or walnuts (yes, more healthy fats, antioxidants, and tons of vitamins/minerals)
1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional based on your tastes)
1 tsp vanilla extract
a little stevia to lightly sweeten

Start with the coconut milk, nut butter, and chocolate bar in a medium saucepan and put it on the lowest heat possible. Continuously stir as the chocolate, coconut milk, and nut butter melts together. Once these melt together add in all of the other ingredients and stir together very well.

Once everything is mixed well together, spread the mixture onto some waxed paper laid out in a baking dish and throw it in the fridge to solidify.

Now you have some of the healthiest chocolate fudge ever known to man!

Keep in mind that you still need to keep your serving portions small because this is still a calorie-dense snack even though it is super-healthy. The good news is that it is lower in sugar and calories than typical fudge and has loads more nutrition than any typical fudge.

Enjoy! Tell your friends that Trainer Mike Geary gave you this recipe.

Why cod liver oil has become an important addition to daily diet

Why cod liver oil has become an important addition to daily diet

Author: Sharad Gaikwad
Cod liver oil is often useful for enhancing a person\'s health. While there are many vegetarians who would not accept the intake of this oil, it is important that they realise the benefits it has to offer. Fish oil is of prime importance in daily diet, particularly when it comes to essential vitamin supplements. Thisfish oil is usually extracted from tissues of oily fish and is extremely useful as a source of natural supplements because it can help in boosting immunity levels. Apart from this, there are other ways that cod liver oil can be beneficial.
Most fish oil is known to have a high content of Omega-3 fatty acids. These acids are very useful for controlling and curing cholesterol levels and heart diseases. As most people are tied up with their professional lives, very few have time to care for their health in a suitable way. This is especially true when it comes to eating habits. Due to this, we miss out on important foods that can provide us with natural nutrition. Due to diseases and bad climatic conditions, we are more prone to falling sick. It is for this reason that intake of natural supplements like cod liver oil becomes very important. In fact, fish oil has started becoming more popular and a new trend of daily intake of this supplement has been witnessed in people who are conscious about their health and fitness. One of the main reasons that people have started including fish oil in their daily diets is that it can help in living a longer and healthier life, while keeping them feeling young. If this is not enough, then is would be beneficial to know that daily consumption of cod liver oilcan help in fighting cancer and other cardiovascular diseases.
Of the various Fish oil that is available for health and fitness reasons, cod liver oilis perhaps the most popular kind. Thisoil is extracted from the liver of the cod fish and is considered to be one of the most vital natural nutritional supplements needed in everyone\'s daily diet. Cod liver oil contains Vitamin D which is one of the most important dietary supplements. When you consider the kind of working lives people have today, you will realise that they spend more hours locked up in their air conditioned offices and less in the sunlight. Due to lack of exposure to sunlight, people also gain less Vitamin D. This lost Vitamin D can be made up by consumption ofcod liver oil. This type of fish oil has also proven to be effective during joint pains and fractures. Very few people are aware of the fact that cod liver oil is essential when it comes to not only growth, but development of the brain as well. This fish oil is extremely useful for the nervous system and can help in curbing cholesterol levels in an individual\'s body. When we are careless about our eating habits that is when cholesterol levels increase in our bodies. Eating correct meals that include proper nutritional elements is a necessity that everyone must ensure.
When it comes to a setting a correct diet for yourself, remember to include a certain amount of fish or cod liver oil and other necessary nutritional supplements as well. This is the only way that people can cope with the faced pace lives that they lead. It is important to put health before money. And of course, a bit of daily exercise along with a good diet can ensure better health for everyone.

Lipozene: Can you Really Lose Weight Fast With Lipozene?

Lipozene: Can you Really Lose Weight Fast With Lipozene?

Author: Ron R
One of the more recent 'stars' of the diet supplement world, Lipozene has been touted as a fast, easy route, to substantial weight loss. But does it really work? (For more information on this, go to: http://celopindietpill.blogspot.com/ )

The Lipozene diet pill is manufactured by Obesity Research Institute. You may have heard of them - they previously marketed similar products under the names Fiberslim and Propolene.

The central ingredient in Lipozene, is a substance called glucomannan. And this is the same substance that was used in Obesity Research Institute\'s prior diet products. So first, you need to take a good look at what exactly is glucomannan.

Without getting too technical, (I don\'t want to put you to sleep with a bunch of terminology from my Chemistry lab manuals!), glucomannan is basically a fiber supplement, derived from a plant. It is a substance that your body cannot absorb, so it just passes through your system, while providing fiber to help move everything else through. (Trying hard, not to get disgusting here!)

Now, there are clinical studies which confirm that glucomannan lowers blood-fat levels, and levels of the 'bad' cholesterol (LDL). There is also some confirmation that consuming glucomannan with water before a meal, will give you a full feeling (the idea being that you will then eat less).

But before you run to your computer, to order a year\'s supply of Lipozene, I\'m going to give you the honest truth. There are very serious problems with this product!

Yes I realize, you may have heard lots of stories about successful weight loss using Lipozene - from people trying to sell it to you! Well, fortunately for you, I refuse to sell people something that I wouldn\'t use myself. So I am going to reveal to you, the whole true story, about Lipozene and weight loss.

First, you need to clearly understand the problems:

#1: Diet pills are still drugs. And ALL drugs cause associated side effects. And sometimes, these side effects can even be dangerous.

#2: Glucomannan is a fiber product. And all fiber products can cause certain vitamins and minerals to bind with them - thus preventing your body from using those essential vitamins and minerals. Thus, it is advisable to take a quality multi-vitamin supplement, if you decide to use this type of diet pill.

#3: Since Lipozene is essentially a fiber product, this brings up the question: Why not just buy one of the commonly available fiber supplements, at a cost that is far less than Lipozene?

#4: There are many claims of success floating around the Internet, purportedly from Lipozene users. However, even these people state that they were following nutritional diet plans, and engaging in regular exercise, while on Lipozene. This means that we have no way of knowing whether they would have succeeded equally, merely by using a diet plan and exercise alone.

None of the problems above, however, addresses the most serious concern with Lipozene: Consumer Fraud.

The company that makes the product (Obesity Research Institute), has been cited numerous times for billing customers under false pretenses, and for refusing to provide refunds under conditions where a refund was promised. Furthermore, the Federal Trade Commission has charged the company with making 'false and unsubstantiated claims' in the past. As a result, the company has been forced to pay $1.5 million in 'customer redress'!

So as we can see, rather than living up to its promises of 'easy weight loss', Lipozene comes with a list of concerns, and even questionable results. Plus, it is sold by a company with a history of criminal actions! Fortunately for you, there are other alternatives to Lipozene, which WILL help you to lose weight quickly. But you need to have a Complete Diet Plan - one that uses SAFE supplements to accelerate your weight loss! And I will layout all the details for you, (plus show you for Free, the step-by-step way to put together your own Weight Loss Plan), in my next article in this series. The Salad Dressing You Should NEVER Eat

The Salad Dressing You Should NEVER Eat -- and my Alternative Super-Healthy Recipe
by Mike Geary - Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Specialist
Author of best-selling program:
The Truth About Six Pack Abs

salad dressingIf you want to eat truly healthy, support your fat loss goals, and avoid some of the nasty additives in processed food, one thing you should eliminate is typical store-bought salad dressing.
I personally NEVER buy pre-made salad dressings from the store anymore, and here's why:
1. Almost all store-bought salad dressings contain fairly large amounts of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).  Unless you're in a health food store, it's almost impossible to find a salad dressing that doesn't contain large amounts of HFCS.
2. Almost all store-bought salad dressings contain heavily refined soybean oil and/or refined canola oil... both of which are VERY unhealthy. Yes, that's correct, canola oil IS unhealthy, despite the marketing propaganda you've been fed claiming that it's healthy.

Due to the refining process of both soybean or canola oils, the polyunsaturated component of the oils is oxidized and makes these oils very inflammatory inside your body.  In addition, soybean oil is WAY too high in omega-6 fatty acids which throws your omega-6 to omega-3 balance out of whack.
We know that olive oil is healthier, but when it comes to store-bought dressings... Even salad dressings that claim to be "made with olive oil" on the FRONT label are deceptive, because if you read the ingredients on the BACK label, they are almost ALWAYS made of mostly refined soybean oil or canola oil as the main oil, with only a very small amount of actual olive oil as a secondary oil.
So here's how to avoid all of these horrendously unhealthy store-bought salad dressings and make your own quick and easy SUPER-healthy dressing...
My Quick and Easy Recipe for Super-Healthy Salad Dressing
Geary's Healthy-Fat Blend Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
Fill your salad dressing container with these approximate ratios of liquids:
  • 1/3rd of container filled with balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3rd of container filled with apple cider vinegar
  • fill the remaining 1/3rd of container with equal parts of extra virgin olive oil and "Udo's Choice EFA Oil Blend"
  • Add just a small touch (approx 1 or 2 teaspoons) of real maple syrup
  • Add a little bit of onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper and then shake the container to mix all ingredients well.
This homemade salad dressing mixture is delicious and healthy, and I pretty much never get tired of it!
The reason I choose to blend the extra virgin olive oil half & half with the Udo's Choice Oil is that they make up for what each lacks... Although extra virgin olive oil is healthy and contains important antioxidants, it is mostly monounsaturated, and is low in the essential fatty acids (EFAs). The Udo's Choice Oil is higher in unrefinedpolyunsaturated oils with a good healthy balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids.
There are several variations of the Udo's Choice Oil, and one of them (labeled DHA 3-6-9 Blend) even contains a DHA algae oil blended into the mix along with organic flax oil, coconut oil, evening primrose oil, rice bran oil, oat germ and bran oil, and a few others.
Overall, blending Udo's Oil with extra virgin olive oil makes nearly a perfect oil blend for salad dressings with a great taste and maximum health benefits.  If you can't find Udo's Choice Oil Blends (you can find Udo's at almost any health food store), there are other EFA oil blends on the market...just make sure that they are COLD-processed to protect the EFAs.  You should never heat an EFA oil blend!
Give this homemade super-healthy salad dressing a try!  You'll do your body a favor by avoiding the harmful additives in store-bought salad dressings.
Enjoy!

What is the Best Ab Workout for Belly Fat Loss?

Expert Author Mike Geary
The answer to the age-old question of "What is the best ab workout for losing stomach fat?" is...
None! Ab workouts alone don't create enough of a metabolic response in your body to create fat loss.
As a trainer, nutrition specialist, and fitness professional, I often get asked what the best types of exercises and workouts are for losing stubborn stomach fat in order to bring out visible six pack abs. The problem is that most people with excess stomach fat looking to try to uncover their abs are searching for some "miracle abdominal workout" that is going to slash the fat off their abs in no time.
The thing is... they are going about the problem entirely the wrong way! The truth is that you don't lose stomach fat by doing ab workouts.
The problem is that focusing most of your time and effort on abdominal exercises and abs workouts to try to flatten your stomach and bring out 6-pack abs is simply wasting your time from doing the correct workout programs that will acutally reduce your body fat for good.
If I were to choose an answer as to what the best exercises are for losing belly fat, my answer would include full body exercises such as the following:
various forms of squats, lunges, deadlifts, clean & presses, snatches, swings, presses and pulls, mountain climbers, sprinting, etc.
These types of full body exercises would encompass a much higher percentage of the workouts I would design instead of abs exercises directly targeting the midsection. The way you combine those full body exercises into a strategic workout that maximizes your metabolism is also very important.
Don't get me wrong... I do recommend a certain amount of exercises that directly target the abs and core, but these are only a small fraction of the programs I design for my clients as your time is better spent focusing on the full body exercises that stimulate the greatest hormonal and metabolic changes within the body. In addition, a side-effect of working out using mostly full body multi-joint combo exercises are that you indirectly work your entire midsection even though you are not specifically targeting the abs.
Keep in mind that the most important factor for losing belly fat to see your abs is actually in the nutrition arena. No matter how hard you workout, if your diet is full of junk, then your abdominals will be covered with ugly fat. Nutrition is without a doubt the "king of getting a six pack".
So let's clear this up for good...
Stop wasting so much of your time focusing on situps, crunches, leg raises, and all those silly worthless "ab contraptions" in your efforts to try to develop 6-pack abs. Instead focus on high intensity full body lifts using combination multi-joint exercises all strategically combined into highly effective fat loss workouts. Couple that with a healthy diet full of natural unprocessed whole foods as close to their natural state as possible, and those elusive six-pack abdominals will yours in no time!
Check out below for more of my key strategies for getting flat sexy 6-pack abs for life.

Common food mistakes that keep your abs hidden by fat

A few days ago, I sent you the interview which discussed various training aspects to consider for stripping off stubborn belly fat and uncovering those six pack abs that everyone wants.

Today, I have the rest of the interview with Abs-Expert Mike Geary dealing with the best nutrition secrets to apply if you want to have any chance of getting lean enough to see visible abs on yourself...

CB: And finally Mike, 1 or 2 of your top secret nutrition tips for losing body fat to carve out those abs. Open your vault of info!

MG: Well Craig, I think you'd agree that there has never been a more confusing time regarding proper nutrition for consumers. Every so called "expert" out there seems to disagree and contradict each other on what's the best way to eat for fat loss and overall good health.

One of the most important messages I try to teach my readers in this world of heavy confusion is that your diet doesn't need to conform to any of the fad diets... you don't need to go "low carb" or "low fat", or high or low anything for that matter to be successful in losing enough body fat to get lean enough to be able to see your abs.
I like to try to simplify things for my readers. I think that balance is the key to success along with eating a diet that is made up of nutrient dense foods in their natural state (as unprocessed as possible).
In general, it is the heavy processing of foods that makes it wreak havoc inside our bodies. Most foods in their natural unprocessed state are inherently good for us. Of course there are always exceptions... a salad of poison ivy leaves is "natural and unprocessed" but certainly would not be good for us!
I'll leave your readers with a couple of the most important aspects of nutrition that help to get you lean for life...

1. Get enough quality protein in the daily diet - not only does it have a higher thermic effect than carbs and fat (so you burn more calories digesting it), but it also creates satiety so your hunger is satisfied longer. Plus it's a building block for maintaining and building lean muscle... And remember that the amount of lean muscle you carry is one of the main factors for controlling your metabolism.

2. Think fiber! When it comes to carbs, make sure that almost all of your carbohydrate intake is from higher fiber sources like vegetables, fruits, and high fiber unrefined grains. Try to avoid refined sugars and refined grains as that is one of the main reasons so many people struggle with body fat.

I personally don't eat many grains as I prefer to get most of my carbs from veggies and fruits, but I'll admit I am a bit of a fan of sprouted grains. I generally recommend looking for carbohydrate sources that have at least 2-3 grams of fiber per each 10 grams of total carbs. Remember that fiber helps fill you up and also slows down the glycemic response of the foods you eat, all beneficial for getting super lean.

3. Don't be afraid to eat fat! Many people try to go way too low on their fat intake and this can negatively affect hormone levels in your body as well as causing more cravings. Try to eat enough healthy fats daily.

Good sources are all nuts and seeds, nut butters, avocados, olive oil, organic meats and eggs, coconuts and virgin coconut oil. On that note, saturated fats from tropical oils are VERY misunderstood, even by many nutritionists and other health professionals. Yes they are composed highly of saturated fats, but are actually beneficial (but that's way beyond the scope of this article).

4. Avoid the two worst things in our food supply at ALL COSTS:
*artificial trans fats from margarines, shortening, and hydrogenated oils that are in most processed foods
*high fructose corn syrup, which is in almost all sweetened products on the market
Again, if you avoid processed foods, it becomes easy to avoid these two worst offenders in our food supply.

I always contend that once you get a handle on these 4 main points of your diet detailed above, the rest starts to take care of itself as you gain control over your appetite, blood sugar levels, hormone levels, etc. It all falls into place, and you eventually gain total control over how lean you want to get.

CB: Thanks Mike!
